Hi

My parents live on a canal boat at a Marina and are wanting Sky.

We have contacted Sky directly and spoke to various instore Sky people and they turned them down citing the following

1 You can't get Sky on a moving boat. (The boat is moored and never moves!)
2 You need a postcode (They have one BD10 0UR, but mail cannot be sent there)
3 They need a landline ( You can pay £25.00 to have an install without one!)

Can anyone offer a solution to there problem in handing over cash to the Murdoch's to enable them to get their beloved sport?

Don't order it from Sky. Just go to an ASA. They'll supply the box, fit the dish etc etc etc.

Sorry it's been a hard day but what's an ASA and would they give them the same deal as Sky, i.e. free box and standard installation?

most of them will give the same deals but some do not. The dish will need to be fixed to the pier/dock, NOT to the boat. Even the slightest up and down motion of the boat, even someone walking from stern to bow will move the dish out of alignment.
