My Pace Sky+ box has failed to record programmes, any ideas ?

Ive been having problems with my sky+ box and this explains the previous problem

Can someone help me with this strange Sky+ problem ?

Now my sky+ box has failed to record 2 programmes which started at the same time, their was no red recording light on the front of the box yet when i tried to change channel it told me that i can`t change channel due to 2 programmes currently being recorded. It never recorded them.

Its as if the machine thinks its recording the 2 programmes but its not actually doing it, i checked both signals at the time and they were very good on both inputs, this has happened before but i just put it down to a one off, now its a lottery if something will record when i ask it too.

15 mins after both recordings were due to end i tried to change channel and it wouldn`t let me as it kept saying i couldn`t do that whilst 2 programmes were recording but the programmes that i wanted to record had ended, the weather is fine here with failry clear skies and no rain.

This is my 6th sky+ box in roughly the last 17 months, what a load of junk their boxes are from my experience, is it too much to ask for a box to last more than 12 months with sky ?

Anyway, has anyone got an idea as to what is causing this ?

My Sky+ box is a Pace ......Model Number 6.3.06 .... Version 9F2212

EPG Software Version 5.04.e

Hi, if you record a lot of stuff and the amount of space on average left on the HD is less than 50% I would recomend you rebuild the planner at least once a week. It only takes 2-3mins and I have found it keeps the box running more stable. For planner rebuild go into services 4 select then 01 select should find an option for planner rebuild. Give it a go and see how it goes. Also try and avoid recording overlap but setting the add and begining and end to zero. Also make sure the box is well vented and doesn't get too hot.

also try a software down load. turn off at the mains, hold down the backup button and turn back on while still holding it down, wait about 40 seconds and all the lights will go on. the down load takes about 10 mins. hope this helps

Re: My Pace Sky+ box has failed to record programmes, any ideas ?

Thanks to you both for the suggestions, i had already done a force update as it was one of the first things i tried.

I also tried this which was posted by shifty in the 3rd post but it was still the same after

Defrag HDD on SKY + - Sky+ - Digital Spy Forums

Ive just done the housecall which you suggested and i`ll see how it goes for a while after that, if that doesn`t work i`ll hire a B52 bomber and drop this box from a great height on sky`s headquarters and see if that cures the problem
