Why not?

You'll get a different offer depending who you speak to, but I'm not aware of any reduction ever being reversed!

It won't cost anything, other than the phone call and a lot of frustration.

So, if you've any hair left to pull out (unlike TG), then go for it!

Well, as a loyal customer (I've never lived anywhere that has had cable) I thought I'd phone and chance my arm. I currently have Phone with unlimited calls, unlimited broadband, TV with HD and multiroom (no extra HD), all movies but no sports. I'd already decided that I'd keep the phone and broadband regardless, as they seemed fairly good value, but the deals I read other people getting started to tick me off a bit! If they could get them then why couldn't I...?

First person I spoke to could only offer me my phone line rental for £1 a month over 12 months. I said I'd think about it. Two days later I call back and they offer the basic Sky TV package plus my phone and internet for £30/month for 9 months. So after adding all the other things I have back on (HD/movies/multiroom)that's about £20 a month discount. I said that still wasn't the deal I'd hoped for and asked to cancel the TV package. So, let's see if they call back with a better offer. Or call back at all!

One month after cancelling got written offer for 50% off for a year (not on HD Sub) and took this up on 28/04/12............ received in post today a new please come back offer of 75% off for 12 months (again not on HD Sub) and £50 back towards bill but offer only valid until 30th May so haven't got time to cancel existing deal (31 days notice) and take better offer......moral of the story don't take first offer you receive as a bigger and better deal could be following not far behind

just off the phone again To sky got my package down to £44 for 3 months then £49 for 6 months after that still got the running discount from the last time for 1 year

Think they are basically giving me discounts on my espn and hd sub.

Happy with that for while. Will try my luck at the full cancel after the 6 months is up

I got sky in 2 years ago and had the friends and family offer of half price tv for 12 months, took the full package out including movies and sports. When the offer ended last year I called to see if anything else was available for me. I ended up cancelling the movies and taking out the free broadband and calls for 6 months. Called sky on Wednesday night to cancel the broadband and calls as I find the broadband service to be poor, told them I was getting BT in. The only thing they could offer me was line rental for £1 for 12 months which I said no to. In the end I cancelled my TV aswell as I had the Sky World package with HD and they weren't offering me anything to reduce the price. Sky comes out in around 4 weeks. Hoping for an offer though, otherwise I will go to virgin. Do they generally offer customers who have cancelled there subscription a deal within the 31 day notice?

Welcome to the Forum.

Depends on direction of wind and tide plus phase of the moon, but generally yes, although no guarantees.

Spend a leisurely couple of hours reading through other members experiences, and you'll see how hit and miss it is.

Good luck.

Glad to be part of the forum. Funnily enough sky phoned me not long ago offering me tv with a 25% for 12 months, cancelled the sports (nothing on during summer) and the movies. Entertainment extra 25% off with HD for 12 months. I'll take that. Was going to hold out for more but I'm new to the offers and I do intend on staying with Sky for a while so I'll hold out for more in the coming years....... there's probably going to be a price hike come September 1st 2012.

on the phone for 1and 1/2 hours to sky cancellations on friday night, ive got the full package at £62.50 a month, had sky for 10 years,hd for 5years

my samsung box has been slow to respond to the remote on and off for a few months now, done all the usual rebuilds, etc

tried to get a 1tb box for the cheapest price possible, the best they could do was £99,or £29 for the 500gb box, both with free install
never got any offer of a reduced subscription
ended up taking the 500gb box but im in two minds wether to phone back and just cancel and see what they offer in a few months to entice me back.

With all deference I back that. Read the Replacement threads, then stick out for a 1.5tB at a sensible price.

As Logiciel says persistance pays, i was first offered the 1TB box for £164!!!!
then called back at a later date still offered the box with a £60 install and the box of £164, asked to go to cancellations/Retentions.
Finally paid £99 for the box engineer coming wed to replace my 500gb, I keep the original. which is about 7-8 months old after getting a free replacement for my Thomson box. Oh forgot to metion that i have received the HD subs FREE for 1 year therefore i am out of pocket intially but gain over the year .( unless the HD subs become free to everyone in that year)

I got my 1.5tb box for free, kept the old one which was fine and a new style Amstrad and got my package down at £51 for 3 rooms total with everything except sports.

The 4th room also has a slim Amstrad that is just free to air stuff as the room is never used really.

All I said was that there wasn't enough room on the regular boxes and that TiVo interested me and that was it - but I was fully prepared to move to TiVo had I not got the deal I did.

The last four posts have lost me, but, going back, what is it that you're paying the £20 for?

I finally got completely frustrated with Sky on Monday night. HD box playing up again and struggling with a lack of recording space. I have multi room, taken out a few years back and they left my old non properly functioning Sky+ box for me to connect to that.
Called up and ended speaking to cancellations dept. All I got offered was a new box at £29. Felt a little under appreciated as have been a Sky customer continuously since 1988. The lady told me that the £29 offer was for then only and if I rang back I would have to pay more. Told her I was unhappy and will look at going with Virgin. She just said that that will cost me more and then told me when my final payment will be taken. Didn't seem to care if I was intending to leave.

Doesn't compute, unless you are saying that you are paying £10 a box, for 2 boxes, just to record non subscription, (FTA), channels.

If this is the case then I would seriously look at Freeview PVR's.

Ah - you meant that £20 and the other £10 were part of the £82 you've been paying.
As there was no punctuation that wasn't clear.

These days the advisors from Sky are shown by a system what can be offered. if the offer you want isn't available to the advisor, or the advisor has a limited choice, then there's only so much they can do. if you do cancel you'll probably be offered a discount to rejoin at some point in the next 3 months, maybe even before your service actually stops.
