Recording With One Input Frustrations

Had Sky HD installed last weekend, I have read many posts about recording with one input on the net, including a few threads on here. I decided last night to set a test last night and did the following:

Went into the manual recording section, and set a recording with the following settings:

Channel - Zee Music
Day - Tomorrow
Start Time - 00:01am
End Time - 11:59pm
Frequency - Daily

When I tried to add the schedule it kept whittering about 'Please enter a time on the 12h clock' which by what I can see above is correct. I ended up having to change the start time to 01:00am which it accepted. I then set another recording for American Chopper on Discovery HD which was due to start at 4am.

I assumed by reading the posts on the web and few a few tests of my own that the first scheduled recording should always use input 2, thus when the first recording starts it would give an error that there was no signal. Then when it came to American Chopper, because there was already a recording scheduled for that time it would use input one and record ok.

For some reason it decided to record the Zee Music channel and not american chopper. I have just stopped it recording 10 mins ago at which point it had recorded 991 minutes, which I make out at 16 and a half hours so it correctly started at 1am.

Am I doing something wrong here? Any why did the sky box not accept 00:01 as a start time?

Thanks!

Yes. You selected the channel that you didn't want to record. Don't select the channel that Zee TV is on, otherwise that's what will record, and you won't be able to select any other channel to watch or really record.

Re: Recording With One Input Frustrations

The Start Time should read 12:01AM. You are using a 24hr clock by inputing 00:01hrs. ( like a railway timetable ).

Re: Recording With One Input Frustrations

Here's how I do it.

Put a live programme on record.

Go to 'manual recording' and set a recording with the start time in two minutes time and the end time for 23 hours 59 minutes later. E.g 12.05pm - 12-04pm. Set to 'daily'

Go back to the programme you're recording and when the 'manual' recording starts e.g 12.05pm, cancel the live recording.

Done!! You can now record in standby, the box will change channels for different recordings and it records Anytime as well.

Re: Recording With One Input Frustrations

ok tried that, didn't really work

Started recording bb, then set a manual record to start at 9:10pm on a random radio channel. Just stopped bb recording but the other one I set to start at 9:10pm is just sat there and says 'to be recorded' even those its after 9:10?

something to do with my Amstrad box?

Is your cable plugged into input 1? Did you do the manual recording from 9.10pm to 9.09pm?

Re: Recording With One Input Frustrations

i think its to do with my box, say its 10pm and you set a manual recording for 10:10pm that evening, it will not record. It seems to want to wait until the day after.

So I have scheduled a recording for tomorrow at 10pm, i will make sure the sky box is turned on at the time therefore it will be forced to try and use input 2 to record then i should hopefuly be able to record using input1 from standby!
