Another Sky HD query - with Samsung LE40A436T
I seem to have a headache with the combo of the Sky HD box and the LE40A456T.
The TV is connected to HDMI2, but when I switch on the TV the Sky box doesn't recognise any of the Sky remotes commands.
The TV stays on the last channel watched (usually Catroon Network from the kids!).
What I have to do is grab the Samsung's remote and scroll through the AV connections back to HDMI 2 and then when I hit the 'tv guide' button on the sky remote it all works.
Completely frustrating - is there a setting I am missing on either the HD box or the TV?
I need this fixed as this HD box will be the source of my HD distribution through the house, so it needs to work - I don't fancy having to wander downstairs to sort out the box when I want to watch TV in bed!!
Cheers

Re: Another Sky HD query - with Samsung LE40A436T
have you accurately described how it is set up, and the behaviour you are experiencing? Because it doesn't sound quite right.
What tv input your sky box is connected to should make no difference to how the sky remote works. The sky remote should change the channels on the sky box, even if it wasn't connected to anything...
It is simply that your kids have pressed the tv button on the sky remote, so they could turn the tv off, and you know have to hit the sky button to get it back to controlling the box instead of the tv?
Also, remember that few tvs will automatically select the sky iHD input when connected via HDMI. You're might to have to do that manually by selecting the input channel each time - unless your tv remembers last input used (it sounds from the description like it may), or there is some other setup that enables this to happen.

Does that actually mean the Sky receiver is connected to the TV's HDMI2 socket?
If the receiver does not respond to its remote's commands then the problem is obviously nothing to do with the TV, but might be just because the remote has been left in the option to control the TV rather than the receiver.

yes, the HDMi lead runs frm the HD box to HDMI2 on the TV.
Where do I find the option mode to control the TV in the HD remote? I have looked but can't seem to find it!

Yes, pretty much so - I did think that chosing HDMI 1 or 2 wouldn't make a difference, which is why I was wondering if the issue was with the HD box or Sky remote!
Kids don't set the TV to standby, and I always switch off the TV on the button - having said that however, the button is always lit up red, so it may be on standby!! Something for me to look at in the manual.
Cheers

Re: Another Sky HD query - with Samsung LE40A436T
It may well be that teh headache comes because the TV is in standby. The manual tells you how to set to standby, but not how to switch it off - any ideas? If I just switch off mnually rather than with remote, it goes back to standby, so that doesn't reset it!
Any thoughts?

Edit - ignore this - it seems that Samsung does not have a full switch off facility - its always on standby - guess its a Sky issue then!

you just press the TV button on the sky remote - though you would have to set up the TV code for your TV first.
