Telling me porkies?

Just had a call from a company trying to sell me a maintenance contract for SkyHD. Can't remember the company name but it was Digital Services or something similar.

I tried to save the lady wasting her time so told her I didn't want to buy any cover.

Her reaction was to say "do you know Sky will charge you £88 and that doesn't include any parts and labour?"

Me "has it gone up then. It was £65 the last I heard and that covered any parts & labour?"

Her " I think it went up recently"

Me "I will have to check that with Sky I think but I'm still not interested"

I have done a search for £88 on here and found nothing. Has anyone else had this company on the phone?

Anyone been quoted £88 for a callout from Sky?

Re: Telling me porkies?

I had a call from the same company trying to sell me insurance.
She told me I'm now out of my warranty period and it was in my interest to sign up with them.
I asked her how long the warranty period was with Sky, she replied that it was 12 months.
I then asked why she thought I was out of warranty considering I had only had Sky for 3 months. Idiots

Where do these companies get our contact details from? Sky?

Yep

and its the biggest waste of money because in 10 years we have never paid a penny to have sky equipment fixed when it went wrong

Re: Telling me porkies?

This company was on Watchdog last year, for their dodgy selling practices - i.e telling blatent lies to sell insurance. But you have to blame Sky for selling them your details....

Re: Telling me porkies?

I had the same call about 2 days ago, the guy was on about my warranty & i told him that my Sky HD was covered by a 12 month warranty & he also told me that it didn't cover parts & labour . After explaining that it does & that i wasn't interested he ended the call

I bet they con many unsuspecting people & something should be done about them

The terms and conditions allow SKY to use certain info as they see fit, they changed these terms a few months back making it an opt out process.
SKY and everyother company that trades in personal info makes money and if a consumer wants to take a third party policy rather than flat rate SKY visits then it's still the customers choice.
