Sky HD Video Sender- Help!?

Hi, I have recently purchased a nice new 27" HDTV for my bedroom - so far I am very pleased with it and the picture quality is great (using my PS2 linked via Component).

However I live in an area where TV reception is very poor and getting standard analogue and Freeview at any kind of decent quality is hard, to say the least.

In my living room I also have a Sky HD box that gets perfect signal (due to the fact that is satellite ). It would be great if I could get the same box upstairs but Sky's multiroom package really doesn't appeal...

So I have recently started looking at video senders having no idea what to look for I am a bit lost and am seeking advice...

What kind of picture would I get with these devices - I know it would not be HD quality but would it be close?

Could I get a decent one relatively cheaply < £50 ?

A video sender is for standard TV. It will not lock to the HD frame rates. So the only solution is to feed the video sender with a normal TV feed from your Sky box and enjoy SD TV upstairs.

If you are really keen you could run HD component (wires) to your bedroom and use the sender for remote signals!

I have a Digisender Gold which send signals from my Sky HD box to my bedroom. This is about 5 metres away in a straight line, through one wall on the same floor. I get a really good picture on my 23 inch lcd from this, and for some reason it even improved when my Sky+ was replaced to SkyHd. The only thing i would say is the search and scan banner (when press the blue button) is a bit jaggedy but this is no real problem. The main picture is well impressive. With the gold version you can hook upto 4 scart devices at a time, although i only use one. Of course my sky box can also be controlled remotely using a sky+ or skyHd remote. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Anyway I don't think wiring the connection would be very convenient as its about 20m from my TV to the Sky Box downstairs, not to mention all the wall drilling ...

What kind of quality would I get with one of these receivers at this range considering it has to go through about 3 walls (2 along and up a floor.)

And finally... Could anyone recommend a box with good quality and signal with a scart socket, only need the one really.

I used to use AEI sender to send signal from sky box (now hd box) from lounge to 3rd floor loft conversion. Was ok but now we've got hd become more fussy about quality. Now running 15m of component and optical (£25 for both) upto loft as we have have projector (with home cinema sound system) as well as second lcd in loft. Take our cables out through corner of window frame in lounge and up outside of house and back in same way.

I had an AEI x4 Gold as well. Although the picture was good the remote control never worked from upstairs.

I took it back and got a different brand (cant remember which) from maplin - go into a store they have lots - it cost about £25

The picture is good I would say the quality of standard arial based TV. And for a remote solution I used

The remote worked first time from upstairs. And if you add the two together it was still about half the price of the AEI from Maplin.

It is a good setup if you dont/cant drill and rewire your house. However sometimes the picture does go screwy - this is normal down to the microwave being used, my Airport Express being used or the lady next door in her bedroom using something that vibrates....

On the whole its a good solution so good luck!
