Cool Sky Freeview with pause and record (SKY+) functionality

Since recieving my 2 new Freeview (white) Sky cards and 2 new full subscription (white cards) i have managed to get pause and record functionality working on my FREEVIEW/FREESAT boxes by using the 2 old (blue) cards in the boxes that have the FREESAT.
Granted i dont have any extra channels and this will only be possible until the blue cards run their course but still its nice to be able to pause and record the FREEVIEW channels that are available.

To be honest, if you are paying full subs on your main box and have freeview boxes around the home then this facility should be available to the SKY FREESAT boxes in the first place!!!

I know it states that to recieve SKY+ functionality you must have subscriptions but in essence i actually do have this on my main subscription card.

A lot of none SKY FREEVIEW boxes have built in PVR recording functionality which only costs the price of the box (you also have to pay for the SKY boxes) so Sky should really be letting people have the functions of SKY+ for FREE on any other boxes without the multiroom sub as long as you have 1 card on your account with subscriptions on.

Just thought i would share my findings and what does everyone think?

Sky don't do Freeview - that comes in through your terrestrial aerial not your satellite.

SKY are in the business of PAY telly, giving away a primary function of their proprietary licensed hardware means (before Freesat) it was ridiculous not to exploit the market conditions to the full. Thankfully since 2001 when the SKY+ was launched and everyone had to pay an extra tenner the service has become "free" with any subscription not just the premium channels (circa 2003), there really is no benefit to SKY making it free for non-paying households as Freeview PVR's have no dinted SKY's business one bit and neither has Freesat PVR's. Mind you launching at £300 and now £250 doesn't make them that competitive

Now long term SKY are still looking at a server/client system, that I expect would make PVR type functions inclusive of a server subscription and ideal for multi box households. It has to be cheaper since they won't be selling many if every client box has to have a tenner multi-room sub

Re: Sky Freeview with pause and record (SKY+) functionality

I agree that the functionality should come with subscription but i don't believe that to get freesat SKY+ i have to have multiroom subs on every box in my home for SKY+ on those boxes with FREESAT.

I have a Sky HD box with FULL subs and i believe that that should mean/include SKY+ functionality on my other 2 SKY FREESAT boxes linked onto my account.
