screen interference on RF2 outl

Hi Guys,
I just got SkyHD installed on Friday. I have had Sky+ for a number of years and didn't have the following problem.

I run 4 tv's of the RF2 around the house. With Sky+ picture quality was perfect but I notice with SkyHD there are faint horizontal lines in the background. Picture is still OK to watch but any ideas what that would be and why didn't it happen with the Sky+ box?

Thanks,
Mark

Re: screen interference on RF2 outl

try changing the rf modulator, a simple search on this site would give you the answer

Re: screen interference on RF2 outl

You'll probably have to change the RF Out Channel on the new digibox to whatever you had on the other one. The default channel is 68. It's in the Service Menu in the Installers Setup. Which EPG have you got?

Re: screen interference on RF2 outl

I have four Thomson HD boxes, only use two of them at any given time, and all of them have this interference to a greater or lesser degree. I tried every possible channel without any great difference in the interference level. It is sometimes noticeably worse. I gave up ages ago trying to resolve the problem. Even had my first HD box swapped over by Sky due to the problem. Certainly the replacement box was a bit better.
I now run component cable to my bedroom TV and use the magic eye to change channel. I plan to run component to my kitchen TV also, when I can be bothered.
My opinion is Thomson have made this a design feature just to p..s us off (based on my experience of probably at least eight Thomson boxes).

Re: screen interference on RF2 outl

Is the interference you guys are getting the same as what I am getting. This being lines and banding over the picture without actually disrupting the overall picture and sound.

This only started after I had my terrestrial aerial cable and 4 splitter changed due to water ingress on the cable. I think that some of the issue maybe down to the 4 way splitter drawing its power off the RF socket on the normal sky + box. However I only get this on the 3 CRT Tv's and not on my LCD which has my HD box attached to it.

Try an attenuator on the rf1 input. This is likely due to too strong a signal. It's easily checked pull out the rf1 input while watching the sky box rf2 channel. This of course assumes the modulator is set to different channel than the up to 11 channels (6 digital 5 Analogue) coming from your local transmitter
