Pace HD box locks up in standby

I bought a new Pace HD box last week, updated to latest firmware immediately and all registered with Sky etc. Normally works fine, but if I either let the box automatically go into standby, or manually put it into standby myself, then by first thing the following morning the box has locked up. Only a power cycle will cure the problem. Has missed several recordings as a result. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Pace HD box locks up in standby

Is this a box supplied by Sky? If so, it's faulty, and is probably overheating throughout the night in standby. Why? Not sure about this, but it could the fans are inactive on standby and the box has turned itself off, or maybe a component eg the LNB is overheating ( it has happened before ) .

Is the box hot to the touch first thing in the morning? More so than when in use? Have you spoken to Sky about this?
Try a test . Switch off the LNB Power Supply & 22KHz Command tonight when you retire, and see if it fires up OK tomorrow. ( Services>4>01 Select ).

A long shot, I know, but it's really anyone's guess what's wrong. Anyone else got any ideas??? Hard drive connections? Internal cable??

Re: Pace HD box locks up in standby

Hi, as I say it's a bought box (not Sky supplied). I found in another forum that several people had "wiring faults" on the Pace boxes, when what I think is really meant is a dry-joint.
I have discovered that if you press even lightly on the base of the box, it locks up even with the system on, so clearly a faulty box and I have been on to the supplier about this.
It looks at though the standby was partially a red herring. I think that despite being in a well ventilated area (on a hi-fi shelf, not enclosed in any way) that the temperature difference between the unit on and off is enough to make the dry-join expand and contract and lock up the box. If left on (auto-standby disabled) and I don't move/knock the box when turning off the TV, all is fine. The supplier has agreed to replace the box, but I thought the extra info might be of some use to anyone else.
