Help - end of my tether with Thomson box

Hi All, advice required please.

Thomson HD box is not powering down about 5 times per day. Its driving me crazy.

I bought the box from an online retailer and its now out of warranty.

Will sky do anything for me?

Does anyone have a good contact number for Sky? Im not continuing to pay for something that doesnt work properly. My recordings are failing all over the place aswell.

Thanks
Paul

Did you mean to say not powering down???

If this is your problem turn it off at the mains!

Try and do a forced update aswell that will help if you don't have the latest.

Typo, meant to say now powering down 5 times a day. Last night the bird was watching big brother:

This is what happened.

'Big brother house, this is Davina. Your live on Channel 4 please do not swear. The lines are now closed and the votes counted and i can now reveal that the 11th housemate to be evicted from the big brother house is..................Click POWER DOWN.'

Not a happy house last night.

What do you mean by on-line retailer? Was it ebay?

Sounds to me like a faulty psu or problems with overheating.

Well give sky a call they will charge you £65/€100 and replace it with a refurb unit.

Hmm I know what you mean - my Pace Sky+ box was very reliable, my Thomson box is a bit buggy to say the least. I think I would not go back to a SD box though, I'd give a refurb a try.
I can imagine many of the problems with the thomson boxes (and possibly yours) are due to the crap PSU (capacitors), hopefully the refurbs have upgraded PSUs.
