im getting no power lights not even standby,

can hear the norm crackle when you connect power cable into back

Could be a dead power board... Hearing the "crackle" is never a good thing with any electrical kit. I fitted a switched socket the second time that I heard this, never get it now.

so how much am i looking at for a new powerboard then?? are they easy to fit, just plug out and in??

For the record, you should never plug or unplug a live cable from the power socket of equipment because it can cause arcing (that crackling sound) which can, as a minimum, blow the internal fuse, and could cause worse damage. Always switch power off at the wall socket before touching any connections.

Sounds like your PSU is goosed. Common fault on this model but not difficult to replace.

can you advise where i can buy a replacment psu? also what price they are, i know there are a few kits on ebay, need to check the model number of the box, as its a older one with component and hdmi outputs

just striped box down, reseated connections from psu to mainboard, and hard drive, all working OK for now

well got me running for 24 hours lol, noticed a lot of partial recordings as well,

right well i bit the bullet, lashed out 65 quid on the replacment uprated psu from satcure,

god knows how long it will be before i see it,

would have been over the moon if they could have done next day delivery,

guess ill have to wait and see when it arrives, and just watch TV upstairs in the bedroom for now,

But look on the bright side - you could have splashed out £100+ per annum for insurance cover from that firm that is always ringing up that alledges they are part of Sky and aren't and got it fixed through them

was a 2nd hand box bought off here 3 weeks ago,

and they would only put the same part back in, so would still have the same issue again at some point,

might as well bite the bullet and get the better one

just have to wait 7 days for it to arrive

If it's of interest, I think Chichester Aerials do HD PSU repairs. Of course Sussex is a big county so you may be miles away from Chichester.

Your replacement power supply might take a bit longer than 7 days to arrive - Satcure have a limited stock of them and they rely on people sending back the duff ones for them to upgrade before they can send them out again. Mine took nearly three weeks to turn up but it was a very easy fit and I had the old one back in the post the following day - but not everyone can be that quick!

already said in a email to them, the faulty one is packed up and ready to post back soon as the replacment is fitted, id prob be happy to ship it to them before the new one if they refunded the surcharge

STOCK SITUATION
Our repair engineer is taking a long holiday so I anticipate having NO STOCK for a fortnight. I do apologise but I can't stop him. Hopefully, he'll come off his skis, break a leg, and come back to work earlier than planned. But don't count on it.

I was planning on ordering one this weekend as I'm starting to get a few of the reported PSU failing issues (box coming up to 14 months old), but I think I might wait a few more weeks.
