No problem with using the Sky+ remote BUT....................make sure the installer (engineer if you are lucky) knows you are feeding another TV via RF2.

Most of them just want to get in and out ASAP and won't bother to make sure the upstairs set is working ok.

He should also do a forced download to make sure you are on the latest software.

Yeah my installer didn't switch on the rf2 output so I had to go into the service menu to do it.

Mine's fine too, although I had to switch on the powered RF2 thingy too!

Re: Magic Eye remote Question??

Just to add - worth checking the RF channel that you're current box is outputting on. Otherwise if the new box outputs on a different channel you'll have to re-tune your upstairs TVs
The RF output is really easy to turn on though, and the RF channel is easy to check/change too. On your remote just press Services > 4, 0, 1 > Select (ignore what you see on screen while you do this) and you'll be into the installer menu. Just go to the RF Out option and you'll see the channel. Just make a note of this on your current box just in case.
On your new box all you'd need to do is go into the same menu (above button combo works the same) then make sure you set the RF Output to "on" and use the same channel, and you'll have no probs.
And yeah - my old Sky+ remote works fine with my HD box too.
Have fun!

Re: Magic Eye remote Question??

Is it better to use coax and the magic eye getting Sky to the HD tv upstairs or would it be better to use a wireless sender?

Are there any opinions out there?

i'd be intererested in an answer to this. I currently run 3 other TV's using a booster / Co Ax cable and the magic eye. The Picture quality is oK on a 20" CRT. I want to get a 22-26"" LCD for the bedroom but scared the Magic eye picture would look terrible.

Would a wireless sender be any better and would it interfere with the Netgear 834 wireless router ?

Re: Magic Eye remote Question??

I use a wireless sender from one living room to the other. (Around 12 metres).

Picture on a 42" plasma is brilliant. Just the usual breaking up when someone walks in the line of the sender.

Use it to send from Panasonic HDD recorder. Not tried it on the Sky box yet.

Re: Magic Eye remote Question??

Yes, wireless senders are fine with Sky receivers, and are no hassle compared to wired systems.
