Sky Hd For Lost, 24 And Battlestar

HI. I currently have virgin/ntl and as they no longer have sky one i was thinking of switching to sky later this year. i have an HD tv so would like to have SKY HD to watch the new series of lost, 24 and battlestar but my question is. would anyone recommend that these programs be watched in HD and will SKY reduce the cost of the box? £300 notes is a bit to much considering you pay an extra £120 a year for HD. Any advice much appreciated.

I think Lost and BSG look fantastic in HD, 24 probably does too, but I've not noticed it to be honest. Rescue Me also looks really impresssive in HD too.

I think I've read somewhere that you can pick up the HD box for about £150 from Currys or Comet or somewhere like that, not sure if it was an ongoing offer though.

Re: Sky Hd For Lost, 24 And Battlestar

I watch Lost and 24 in HD. Both are excellent quality, but 24 is nearly finished.

Not sure about the price. I'm sure if you search around this forum you'll find there are deals to be had - usually around £149 + £60 install. The £10 extra subscription is still there unfortunately.

I'd think about what kind of subscription you're after. If you get Movies and Sports you'll get about 5 channels with decent content. On a basic package (i.e. just getting Sky1), then you're looking at Sky1, SkyArts, Discovery, NatGeo and History as well as the BBC HD trial. Up to you whether that is worth the £10 a month and the potentially £360 install price.

Its worth bearing in mind that many people offset the cost of HD with their broadband through Sky.

Re: Sky Hd For Lost, 24 And Battlestar

Lost and 24 have all but finished - but the PQ looks fantastic in HD IMO. BSG was less impressive (current season also finished)

Rescue Me (finished) and Bones (almost finished) look great as well.

Generally Sky One HD has recently had its badwith improved and since then the picture is pretty much top draw.

Think Las Vegas and Weeds are due to start again soon-ish and they will be in HD.

The last season of Las Vegas really showcased HD well, it looked stunning (Vanessa Marcil in HD too...MMMMMM )

I saw the first couple of eps of the new season of Weeds when Anytime first started and assumed it'd be starting shortly, no sign of it yet though.

Re: Sky Hd For Lost, 24 And Battlestar

I think the quality of both 24 & Lost is a bit hit & miss, last weeks episodes (the 1st I'd seen in HD) were a bit disappointing - although last night's Lost was pretty impressive.

24's scene's (esp inside CTU) tend to be too dark for you to notice to the jump in PQ which is maybe why BSG suffers. Although to be honest, I've only started watching 24 in HD when it's been after midnight if you see what I mean.

Re: Sky Hd For Lost, 24 And Battlestar

Battlestar Galactica looks awesome in HD, LOST im not a fan but ive switched on when its on Anytime and it looks good.

24 I think is in the position of well its shot in widescreen that's better than nothing attitude in America, even if it shot in HD, it is very dark.

BSG is like a mini movie each week, absolute fantastic, it looks superb on DVD but its breath taking on SKY One HD, especially since the bit-rate has been increased.

Maybe im biased towards it.

The extra ten quid is well worth it, ive watched more TV since getting HD than ever before, especially History Channel HD which is by far my favourite channel.

I think that that is/was when you buy a TV, but I could be wrong.

Ditto - There's some fantastic documentaries which I'm sure I've only watched because they've been in HD, but I'm really glad I did.
