My father has just moved home, he currently has a standard sky package and has been a subscriber for many years. I have setup his old tv and box with the sky dish that was already in place at his new home.
However, he does not wish to have a new landline phone installed there as he had in his previous home, i know that should'nt affect his standard sky sub as
afaik sky don't bother hasseling you by letter/phone about not having your box plugged into the phone after 12 months of subscribing.
But, he now wishes to have Sky HD, i am getting him a new 42px60 panny and i think the HD sub would really do that telly justice but im concerned with the fact that this may be considered a *new* installation/contract as such and thus the installer would only agree to install with the presence of an active landline.
Does a current subscriber to a standard sky package have to sign a *new* contract and thus has to agree to plug the box in the socket of an active line for the next 12 months on signing upto to HD? Or is it not a problem as it could be considered a *continuing* subscription and a local installer should have no issues with going ahead without the landline in place?
Thanks
