Re: Cancelling everything but keep box

I think all you can do is lower your subsription to the cheapest package. You cant cancel for 12 months.

The Sky HD T&C state

Quote:
Minimum Sky HD subscription 12 months unless your Sky digital subscription ends earlier
I read that as if you are out of your normal Sky contract, then you can cancel that and hence your HD contract at any time.

Though it does go on to say

Quote:
Minimum Sky+ subscription 12 months
Without the "unless your Sky digital subscription ends earlier". So they may force you to honour that if you cancel everything else.

Re: Cancelling everything but keep box

So......

I have been a sky customer for oooh OVER 5 years, well over my 12 month initial contract.

If i chose to get HD, do i have to sign another 12 month contract, or could i cancel my HD after say 1 month?

Re: Cancelling everything but keep box

if you got HD box else where you could cancel everything except basic package, which will be just £15

Re: Cancelling everything but keep box

Now Sky will want to keep you as a customer and WILL offer you incentives to stay with them. Try giving them a call and see what they offer.

Also if finacially you cannot afford/justify the subscription(loss of work/partner ect.) Sky are sometimes accomodating ie See if you can have a 3 month break from the contract.

Worth a try

Re: Cancelling everything but keep box

You bought a subsidised box (well that's what SKY claimed) so no surprise they are not going to let you keep it and not complete the contractual obligation which got you the box in the first place

Short of moving out of the country or declaring bankruptcy I don't think you have a legal leg to stand on. If there is a serious money issue (and it's not wanting something for nothing) then I am sure the CS supervisor would listen and something could be worked out but not if you go to them and say I want to keep everything and pay nothing

Tell them their T&C's say no such thing.

The written T&C's that came with your Sky HD box specificy no minimum term. They refer to the minimum term, but do not state what that is.

On the website, it says (as I posted earlier)
Quote:
Minimum Sky HD subscription 12 months unless your Sky digital subscription ends earlier
However, that can be interpreted as you must end your Sky Digital Subscription and having done that, end your HD sub. But not that you can just end your HD sub.

So, simply cancel the lot, and see if they offer you any incentive to stay, or allow you to drop HD
