Is it pot luck on which type of 1Tb box you get, ie Samsung or Amstrad etc?

They send you the box and you swap it over yourself and then ring them up to get your viewing card paired to the new box.

Do you know how long it takes to get the box sent to you after ordering?

Nope as I am one of the "lucky" ones that got it when it first came out at the end of Feb and had the pleasure of paying £249 + £60 install as this was the only option. It was bought to replace my Thompson one that completley packed up.

It will be interesting to see if I still get this offer as if I do I will be asking for the differnce back as a credit/refund.

Yep got the letter this morning! Not happy!

After spending days emailing sky saying that the 249 + 60 was too much money and being told under no circumstances would sky be offering the 1Tb for less then or in the future, I reluctantly paid the money to replace an aging and faulty thomson early hd box.

Now with this special invite in my hands asking me that as an early HD customer I can now have the box for £149 plus self install (again I put forward my case about I could do a self install but sky would have none of it), I have now written to sky asking for the difference. From the emails I have from sky at the time of my long debate with them, they have shot themselves in the foot and what is contained in my emails has now been contradicted by sky with this special invite!

If I take up this offer I assume I will have to pair my current viewing card to the new box. If so, can I still watch the recorded HD programmes (SKY1HD) on my old box somehow? Or do I need to watch everything I have recorded before getting the new box?

Thanks

It would be good if you could let me know if you get anywhere with this. Now that you have the letter have you tried ringing Customer Services to say how about crediting me the difference then?

Did you email Jerermy Darroch or the general email address?

I think once you've paired your card with the new box you will not be able to watch the old recordings.

I had my thompson fixed by one of the guys on the satcure list. When I had the box back I was able to put the card that had been paired with my new 1tb box in and watch what was on the hard drive.

I think the recordings are linked to the viewing card that was in the box when they where recoreded.

Hmm, this is tempting - got my offer in the post this morning. Is there a market for the old boxes given they have component and HDMI outputs?

Are you all day one subscribers receiving this offer? I wouldn't mind shifting my existing HD box to replace a multi room Sky+ and getting a new 1TB box for the main TV. I have only been a HD subscriber since mid 2008 though.

Just got the same offer. I was an original HD subscriber but cancelled when I moved abroad for 2 years. The current contract is in my wife's name and has been so since Dec 08 and the offer is also in her name.

Tempted as my current box is playing up!!!

I got the letter this morning.

I am tempted not coz I need the extra space but coz my box keeps crashing etc.

In addition, my epg is dead slow.

Are these new boxes any faster as I read they have a faster processor.

Got my mailshot this morning. I will be taking this offer up as my old box is playing up abit and I had been thinking about having it checked over and the HDD upgraded. I have multiroom with a very old sky+ box still going strong but would like to have the old HD box for the capacity without the HD sub as I don't have a HDTV in the bedroom. Has anyone out there done this? Can it be done?

Cheers.

Got the offer in the post this morning.

Tempted as others say as my crappy thompson box is full of faults:
HDD is seriously noisy
EPG slow
Sometimes fails to record
Red button on sky news causes box to crash
The list goes on....

The more I think about it the more I realize I need A NEW BOX!
