new to sky HD, question about sound outputs

new to sky HD, question about sound outputs

Can someone help

just booked to have my sky + box replaced with a nice shinny new sky hd box but can some one tell me if the hd boxes have a coax audio output or is it the same as the sky + boxes and ony have optical or L & R outputs as my amp only has coax inputs and the converter i bought caused nothing but problems

It's not helpful - but they do not have co-axial outputs.

The Samsung's have both (would imagine Pace/Amstrad as well)

so depending on what box i get it may have a co-axial output

As the boxes are standard then you will have both co-ax/optical audio out on the back of the box.

All current Sky HD boxes have both optical and digital coaxial audio output. The original Thomson boxes had only optical digital audio out.

All the new boxes have both optical and coaxial.

thanks guys at least i can put the amp on hold until after xmas and then hopefully get a better one in the sales


sorry just reread that so your saying all boxes have both but you cant use the co-axial output , so whats the point in having it

You can use either - the coax or the optical - they both work. (Page 66 of the manual shows you your options)

Should not make any difference re epg so you may have a faulty box. I cant check at the moment as son is playing xbox. Will have a look when he is finished.

Yes he has Pace but it worked prior to that as I set it up to his amp.

Sorry, i take back all my previous posts.
It turns it does work regardless of EPG
The first time i tried it wasn't playing ball. But it defo works now

Apologies - I thought they were all the same - mine doesn't have co-axial.
Try another excuse for a new amp though - I just did and it's well worth it.
