Red face 2nd HD box now says no satellite signal being received

Hi complete newbie to this forum and had a quick look but forgive me if this question has already been posted and answered

i have 2 Sky HD boxes. one is connected to the main tv and the other was previously in another house when i lived there.

we have a link (single feed only) in the room where the 2nd box is. i had already been told by Sky that if there was only one feed then not all the facilities would be available.

Box has been in place for three weeks and we had all channels, anytime etc. however, last week although the EPG is there it now says that no satellite signal is being received. tried removing the lead and replacing it in the same terminal and the other terminal tried the old switich it off and switch it back on again but to no avail.

dug out a very old Sky box and it works fine - any ideas what the problem is? the box is 18 months old

thanks

Sounds like a Thomson box????? May well need the PSU upgrading. (Do a search for Thomson PSU)

In the meantime try a Planner re-build.

You need to access a hidden engineer’s menu.

DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR SCREEN as it will not appear to follow what you input.

Press Services – 0 – 0 - 1 – Select

Now you can look at the screen……………….choose option 7 (Re-Build)

Box will go to “Housekeeping” and shut down.

Leave it for 5 minutes then switch on.

I agree with Kev. It is probably the power supply (assuming the box is a Thomson). However, did you enable single feed mode? Perhaps, just perhaps if it had not been used for a long time, it may have still been on the old EPG (and has recently automatically updated).

Did it have the old or new style menu on the box when you first re-connected it, and has that now changed?

To enable single feed mode push the following on the remote: Services, 0,0,1, Select, Scroll down to "Single Feed Mode", push the right arrow so it says "On" then push green to save. Make sure your feed cable is connected to input 1.

I hope this helps.

If you're already using Single Feed Mode, disable Anytime on the second box. If not, do as suggested above, and leave Anytime disabled.

Press Services>Options>Customise. Set "Enable Anytime" to OFF, and press green to Save Settings.
