Interactive menu does not work if HDMI plugged in

I've recently had Sky HD installed and at the time of writing the box has only been installed for 3 weeks. I noticed when trying to access the interactive menus that I could not. When I click interactive then selected for example Sky Active the following happened:
  • Connecting to skyActive screen appeared briefly.
  • Then the channel I was on before entering the interactive menu briefly reappears.
  • Then I'm returned to the interactive menu.
This behaviour occurred when selecting any of the other options in the interactive menu. I suspected the box not being able to connect to the phone line but when calling sky they tested the line and explained the first screen when accessing for example sky active is received via the satellite and not the phone line.

After doing some tests over the phone like system reset and rebuild there was no luck so an engineer was booked as Sky suspected a faulty box. When the engineer arrived he tried the following:
  • Forced an EPG reinstall, my box already had the new HD EPG but he said it could have possibly missed blocks the first time.
  • Swapped out my Samsung box for another Samsung box. He only had Samsung boxes in his van.
  • Swapped out my octo LNB
None of the above fixed the issue and the engineer was out of ideas. I then realised that I had been into these menus previously so started to think of what had changed on the sytem since than, the only thing I could think of was I'd attached this HDMI to CAT6 extender to the HDMI port. I removed this from the box and the menu worked fine - Very Strange.

My setup is that I have the RF2 outlet feeding a powered eight way SLx splitter leading to 8 TV's. I also have the above HDMI/Cat6 extender feeding a single TV. The only conclusion that we could arrive at was that the box was struggling to supply the power for the RF2 and the HDMI sockets so the engineer is going to return later this week with a different make of Sky HD box to test.

I realise that HDMI/Cat6 splitter is not powered but that is how it is designed to operate. My next step in the plan is to install a powered 1x8 HDMI splitter feeding to the TV's via Cat6.

Not really looking for a solution but thought it worthwhile posting en case anyone else does have the same situation. Having said that if anyone else has experienced anything like this please share your experience and solution?

Regards

No interactive via RF2 is a known fault with the new EPG/OS ( regardless of digibox model ), unless the main tv is switched on, and connected via HDMI.

Good to know as my sky box is in a cupboard with all TV's being fed off either RF2 via splitter or one having the option of the HDMI connection. In other words I don't have a main TV connected to the main RF output. Interactive works via RF2 if I unplug the HDMI output so this bug seems to have exceptions. I will test if the problem occurs while the TV connected to the HDMI output is switched on.
