Sky hd box

I'm having Sky HD installed next Monday and asked the installallation company for a Samsung box as I read these were the best.
They have told me that they don't use Samsung as they had "problems" with them and only use Pace! Then said that they don't get supplied anymore with Samsung.
Can this be true? Are Samsung no good?

I would not worry about it, Pace boxes are fine anyway. Most of the boxes have some 'quirks'. I have had both a Pace and now have a Samsung which works just fine (the Pace was recalled because earlier models had a fault).
They look the same so there is no cosmetic difference.

Had HD upgraded last week - and the engineer tried 2 new Samsung units, out of branded boxes, but both had faults where he could not get a picture.

He then pulled a Pace unit from a plain brown box - and this worked fine. I asked whether this was a refurbished unit and he said that they only put refurbs to replace existing faulty units - not on new installations (whether that is right or not).

The enginner then called a couple of his mates who all picked up new Samsung boxes that morning - to see if they had problems, so there may be something in the Samsung quality question...
