Is this possible? Installation query

Hi All,

Currently got 2 Sky+ units in the house (both in the same location - 2nd is running loop through to other TV's - one with a magic eye). We have the full channel package with the multiroom option.

Now we want to upgrade 1 of the boxes to HD. Now this box would need to be in a different location. What are the chances of the sky installer putting a 2nd dish up and running cables directly to this location - I want to keep the 2nd sky+ box where it is in case we want to use it for something else.

If not is there anyway to get a HD box without him needing to visit and avoid the installation cost - cos I'm damn sure I can plug a hdmi, power and 2 cables from the existing sky+.

Cheers all.

You presumably have a quad LNB, so you can swap it for an octo and keep the single dish.

Yes we have a quad lnb. Would a sky engineer carry or put up an octo lnb though?

Can I ask how you got around the issue of your remote controlling both Sky+ boxes? I've just taken delivery of an HD box (replacing a standard box) that also resides in the same place as an existing Sky+ box. I assumed the HD remote and Sky+ remote would use different IR frequencies. Whilst one won't turn the other on I have found that the Sky+ remote will control the HD box... means I spend a lot of the time shouting at the kids!!!

You can also use this, I think you would have to cover the receiver on the front of the box and use the magic eye.
