Sky HD and quidco cashback query

Hi all,

Ok just a bit of a query. I was a sky customer 6 mths ago and had a sky+ box and 1 standard box in my bedroom. 6 mths ago i cancelled and they reverted my sky box to the freeview channels.

Now ive been looking to get Sky HD and been fishing around for any offers on the net etc. Ive been registered on quidco for about a year and have been reading about the offer they have for £100 cashback.

As i understand it the offer is only for offers online but what im not sure about is when they say for new customers.

Does this mean for new skyhd customers or new sky customers in general?
If i did go ahead with this offer how does the cashback work. What do i exactly order on the sky website to activate this cashback. I know all about visiting the site via quidco but just making sure i select the right options on the Sky website that will activate this particular offer.

Sorry for the long winded query!

If you click through Quidco to the Sky site you'll find the answer!!

It's "New customer, or been away from Sky for at least twelve months".

Well last weekend i ordered online through quidco and the £100 cashback tracked successfully.

Now i read on another thread that if you have to contact sky regarding your order you lose your £100 cashback with Quidco! Is this correct?

Only reason i ask is because ive just received an email from sky asking me to call them to complete the order.

Obviously i'll have to call them otherwise i wont get my SkyHD installed.
Does this mean i wont get my cashback?

I would imagine everyone would have to speak to Sky regarding there online order so i wonder what the point of the offer is then if its not valid the moment Sky contact you?

Has anyone successfully received there £100 cashback on quidco regarding this?

I don't fully understand Quidco. Sky HD was my first transaction. Anyway, it started off as £120 'tracked' and has now changed to 'validated'.

It's not being installed until December and I've spoken on the phone with Sky to change the install date.

If you call sky you wont get your cashback. You do have to wonder if its a ploy.

I had exactly the same situation as you. I had to call Sky to confirm the direct debit details, my own fault for missing a digit out of the account number. The good news is though I got my Quidco payment last month.

So how long after your Sky was activated did you get your cashback mate?

I just went through Quidco for O2 Broadband and got right to the end and hey it dumped me out with an error screen and a phone number to ring and what a surprise none of my details even the username and password which the O2 server texted me to confirm were on record.

Damn shame.

It was validated pretty quick, but took a couple of months after that to get paid.

its not a ploy specific to Sky or perhaps even a ploy

Most retailers, if not all, that go via quidco will deny you cashback if you intervene in the electronic process by calling them up etc.

I suppose their argument would be along the lines that it wasnt wholly and exvlusively completed via quidco and required input from us etc

If you read the quidco faq's and t's and c's it will explain to this effect

thanks

Hi, I ordered SKY through the website a week ago today. I instantly recieved 2 comfirmation emails saying 'Conformation of Order' and a online order ref number. Each day i was waiting for my sky package to arrive. I got an email yesterday from them saying i had to call as they wanted to 'confirm some details' I rang them and said before we continue i dont want to invalidate my Quidco offer. She said its no problem as you ordered on line and you have a online order number. She said i entered some details wrong on line . Anway all went smoothly and i got a new fitting date and new confirmation email.

So we will see....

Yes totally understand the ins and outs of Quidco

However when the online ordering process is interrupted by the company themselves via their own systems there by forcing you to make contact it then becomes underhanded and like Insurance companies relying on apathy to reap high renewal premiums a good portion of quidco orders would be completed over the phone or in the case of my O2 order started a fresh over the phone regardless of the customer knowing the cash back ain't coming.

Savings by using online only systems should be passed on but using things like Quidco for marketing and the not following through is unacceptable.
However if the company calls you then the onus is on them, you completed your part of the deal and if you didn't get the cashback for answering a question outside of the ordering process that is just as wrong.

I ordered Sky HD after logging into quidco, the installation was completed on 5th december. I logged into quidco today and Sky have DECLINED my £65!

I have no idea why, I have been using quidco for over a year and this is the first time I have had a legitimate claim declined.
