No it can't because like just about all HD on Sky it uses a 29500 SR which isn't selectable when you manually add a channel.

Did you check the link at all ?

It clearly say's that the channel is NDS Videoguard so it will only be available open when SKY thinks we're ready for it

You can add the channel on a non Sky box though with variable SR, but still not viewable I believe

Checked these sites.
Still on a very steap learning curve.
On KingOfSat found list of HDTV channels. If the column Encryptions has something in it apart from 'clear', i presume i can't get those?

well i've tried to input loads of these channels.
even if the encryption says 'clear' the search comes back 'no channels found'
why is this if its listed?

There are actually very few HD channels marked "clear".

There's only three clear HD channels, BBC HD, ITV HD and Luxe HD.

Are you looking at HD channels on other satellites, perhaps?

Hi mksuperhoop

The SKY boxes are very limited to what they can receive. They have some fixed parameters for reception, so if some channels broadcast with a different parameter then the box will not be able to find these. Some channels which are also testing will not be found by a SKY box on purpose by SKY... Does it make any sense?

It's a way for Sky to control how their boxes are used (i.e. ONLY for the chosen SKY line-up)...

True, but none of the 29500 channels are in the clear, so it's neither here nor there!!

Yeah that is a disappointment. But they do have some classic films on there so till Sky Classics goes HD (if ever) it will have to do for old movie fans like myself.

AIUI, both. The full monty. From:

MGM breaks new ground in the UK with BSkyB

"To view MGM HD, Sky customers need to subscribe to Dual Movies and the HD pack. Alternatively, the channel is available on an a la carte basis for £5 per month. The channel is available to Sky customers in both the UK and Ireland."

Have just gone to their website and sent the below to their contact link.
Most probably they will just ignore the complaint but you never know till you try. Maybe if they get enough complaints they may do something about this butt ugly logo. Fire away lads and get your complaints in.

"Congratulations on your new MGM HD UK channel. About time we in the UK had a HD movie channel showing some outright classics.
Only one problem is causing me not to be able to watch your channel as well as other numerous movie fans(check out the DigitalSpy forum and AV Forums. Your Logo(or Dog as most people in the know call them) is one the most instrusive I have seen in recent times(maybe Disney CinemaMagic HD have you beat but at least theres is transparent. I have a Pioneer LX-608D(60") Plasma screen(well known in the market as one of the best and mine is fully calibrated and setup to a professional standard) and despite it having numerous orbiters to reduce screen burn your logo after two hours of watching leaves an indentation on my screen and I have to run a special pattern software built in to remove the screen burn running it for at least one hour. As you are a paid movie channel in conjunction with Sky Hd surely there is no need for this logo, Sky Hd tried this on a trial basis on their movie channels (almost transparent logo) many moons ago and got so many complaints had to remove it. If this cannot be the case could you please look into having your logo reduced in size and made much more transparent at the bottom right of the screen(much less instrusive) as per your US counterpart movie channel.
Until this is done myself as well as other home theater fans(your key audience and subscribers) will refrain from watching this channel because of this important issue.

Await your comments in reply to my issue raised above."
