sky by broadband

Hi Guys,

I recently signed up for this service, and everything is running ok except that my norton anitvirus/firewall pops up with permission requests constantly (and i mean literally after one click to accept another pops up) for kontiki delivery manager.

I've been into my firewall settings and both kontiki delivery manager and sky by broadband are set to 'permit all', yet i am stillgetting these request - it's driving me up the wall!

Anyone have the same problem or know how I can resolve it?

Ta!

Is it true this system is based on a P2P network?

If so, I think I will stay well clear of it.

Yes it is based on a p2p system, provided by kontiki.

It's a b*sterd to remove as well, when you uninstall through 'Add/Remove Programs' it only takes off the Sky front end and leaves the Kontiki services hanging around.

For what its worth, Im happy with the service, & my pop up blockers have worked fine (Ive had no pop ups nor repeated warnings) It seems a little slow though.

Yep, you'll have to trawl through the registry to remove it.

Look in Services, there will be a KService and something else starting with K..., can't remember now. Open the registry editor and search and remove every key that has a reference to them. There are also two folders created, one for the service and one ofr the content, you'll need to get both of them.

If you search on google for Kontiki, you can get some more info about it which will aid removal.

STOWITBELOW: The service itself is good I guess, I would have liked better quality video (higher resolution) but it's free to subscribers. The issue I have is that the sky install, puts software onto your PC that hasn't got a removal script. Major no no

I agree Vonzack, the point I was making is as it works Im not currently planning to remove it so it doesn't matter. If it didn't & as you say proves difficult to remove I too would be p****d off.

If you do a system restore to a point before you installed sky by broadband, it will remove any references to it, however it will not remove the downloads, as these are not system changes. Give it a go it should not be a problem for you.

Erm. Do you mean Freedom Of Information Request? If so, they will probably ignore you. FOI requests only have relevence when sent to public bodies, not trading companies.
