Will Sky engineer fit an extension socket for my BB?

I am having Sky Broadband installed soon, my Master Socket is behind the door in the lounge (which is 6 metres away from my nearest socket) will the engineer fit an extension over to where my tv/sockets are if I asked him?

Don't understand the question. Are you having fibre broadband installed? (Regular broadband is self installed.)

Hi Neil, my phone line is not active so an open reach engineer is coming into the premise, I am having standard broadband fitted plus sky tv, the master socket is in an awkward place so I was asking if the engineer would run an extension off the master to the back of my tv?

Openreach may charge for extensions, the sky engineer will need to connect the sky box to the phone line and will provide an extension to the sky box.

It still does not make sense, (to me). Why would an Open Reach person have to visit the premises? If you have a master socket then presumably you have a telephone line? If you don't have a telephone line, (new house perhaps?), then I would remove the existing socket and tell the OR guy you don't have any sort of socket and would like it placed in such and such a place.

I do have a phone line but it's not live, I have a master socket so I must have a phone line?! I want the master socket moving to a more suitable position for my broadband, sky, phone.

So, as asked before, why would an Open Reach person need to visit your premises? If you do have a phone line activating it can be done from the exchange/cabinet.

If the line is a recent stop or a renumber then it can be done without an engineer visit. If its been deactivated for months or years then the chances of it still being connected to the exchange (or even cab or dp) are small. Again, they may charge to have the socket moved or an extension fitted.

If your sky experience is anything like mine then they will have arranged an engineer appointment with you...and no one will show up.

Fortunately i set my router up the night before and noticed my phone line/broadband was already active
