Speed drop question?

I used to get a DL speed of 5-8mbps. Now I only get 2mbps.

I phoned Sky and they said 2mbps is the best I can get on my line.

Rubbish I said, I used to get 8.

And that was where the conversation ended.

What, if anything can I do?

have you put your broadband line into the test socket behind the master socket

Tried that, no better though.

Phoned Sky again, they again said 2 is the best my line can get, they can't increase it. I am 110% sure I used to get what averaged about 5.5 but sometimes (one time) when I measured it was almost 8. I also used to get about 1 up.

They said BT must of changed something at the exchange, not sure if they are just fobbing me off though.

thats correct of what your line can only handle you could try putting your broadband in test socket see if you get a extra 1-2meg if you do get extra speed then you need to remove ring bell wire which means you leave in 2 and 5 wires
