New Router - advice wanted on DGN3500-100PES

Hi

I'm looking to replace my DG834GT and Gigabit switch wiht one unit.

I'm getting fed up with HD on my xbox stuttering over Fast EN so I'm looking for a Gigabit N Router with N Modem.

Seen the Netgear DGN3500-100PES and also the Belkin N1. The N1 does not have DHCP reservation and I've had good experiences with Netgear.

Two questions:

!. I've heard this router doesn't like LLU and I'm on Sky LLU, does anyone know if this is true?

2. I've also read that to get full 300mbps you need to have an adapter that has Channel Bonding enabled. Does anyone know whether this router will work properly with the xbox live N Adapter?

I really don't understand why that should be the case. LLU simply means that an ISP has their own kit in your local exchange. It doesn't describe or define the equipment in any other way.

Your post is a little confusing since you say you are getting a gigabit switch because of your xbox problems then suggest you are going to use wireless to connect the xbox.

Regardless you really don't need a gigabit network for gaming. Standard speed is fine as is N wireless connections. I wouldn't concern yourself with getting 300mbps either since this will likely be 10-20 times the speed of your internet connection.

It is known for some router manufactures equipment to work better with certain ISP's. Never been an issue for me but there is plenty of topics discussing this.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I do not see how this will cure stuttering.
If the Lan side of the router is much greater in speed than the internet already what will you gain by changing the router. It will not make the internet go faster.

I'm guessing that joewalch may be streaming HD video from a pc across his LAN onto an XBox 360, the video is stuttering and therefore, he's considering a router that would allow a faster data transfer rate internally - internet dosnt come into it. Is this correct Joe?

I am in a similar situation, full 1080p HD video is stuttering on a standard router when streaming to 360. But it may be that the PC acting as a server is struggling to decode the MKV file and not a network issue at all. Im unsure and am working my way through several different server apps: PS3 media serverworks ok until the buffer empties, obviously tried media player 11, windows media centre on a Vista 64 bit machine - all stutter. Will try TVersity next.. but it may be that a faster router is required...I've read about gigabit routers..but unsure.
