Re: Bristol 2009

It's usually a good mix of both HiFi and Home Cinema and you also have most of the big names in attendance. I would say that over the years having been to almost all the UK shows, Bristol is the best mixture of both and it is also one which has a freindly atmosphere and very few tyre kickers. You are likely to meet some pretty well versed enthusiasts. Plus AVForums will also be there again this year with our usual stand and of course reports from the showfloor on new tech etc.

If you go, remember to drop in on the stand and say hello!

What day is anybody planning on going on? With no skiing for me this year (), I may look at going on the Friday if it's quieter than the weekend.

Although there is no trade day any more, you will find that Friday is when you get lots of the trade attending. Getting in early is the best bet and going all the way to the top floor and working down will give you the best chance of seeing things before the crowds reach you (as most start on the ground floor).

I'll be going again this year, but I have "orders" from SWMBO not to buy anything after coming home with an Onkyo 875 last year.

We'll see though, quite fancy a dedicated Blu-Ray player.

Bristol Marriot Hotel... Not sure of dates but I've been advised by an offical Wharfedale Retailer that Wharfedale are going to announce the release dates for the upcoming diamond 10 Range of speakers.

I'll have to postpone my upgrades untill then me thinks.

Re: Bristol 2009

Hi All,

Looks like the HDTV scene is very thin on the ground - only JVC (not exactly exciting products at CES 2009), Loewe (rich boys toys) and Pioneer (who imho, will not be showing or saying anything new). No Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, Philips etc. From the way things stand at the moment, it is more of a HiFi only show as opposed to a real sound & vision show!

Suave!

We're trying hard to get something new for people to see in the display department. No promises, though.

There's a multi storey car park right next to the event, there is a new multi storey car park serving Cabot Circus shopping centre about 2minutes walk away and usually for the weekned of the show they also run an out of town Park and Ride scheme from the University West of England campus in Filton which is about 5mins from the M4/M5 interchange.

So plenty of options regarding transport.

No Park and Ride this year apparently, which I thing is a shame - this is from the Bristol show website -

• Car Parking- the development includes a 2500 space secure car park, removing the need for the Park & Ride scheme and easing any previous parking problems.
