Re: IFA Videos here.

I've just been reading coverage of the Blu ray keynote over on DVD times.

Not as upbeat as I'd expected - maybe of interest to some of you.

(sorry cannot link)

Mods - apologies if this is against the rules (please remove as necessary), but I thought it would be interesting for folks here.

Here is a link to DVD Times coverage of the BDA Adress at IFA:

Re: IFA Videos here.

Well not that much of interest for me there. The big things I picked up on are...The Tudors will be released on BluRay (and presumably HD DVD) before the end of the year and I should cancel my US pre-order for Eyes Wide Shut as it will be cut and buy the UK HD DVD instead.

Re: IFA Videos here.

What I found interesting was the comment on why price is not the single factor in the buying decision.

Well if you are going to go mass market, then I am afraid it IS VERY important IMO.

Entirely agree - especially if your players are technically inferior to the cheaper competition.

I wonder what HD DVD will have for us tomorrow?

Re: IFA Videos here.

Interesting I thought:

Question to BDA: Someone wants a confirmation that NO studio has received any sweetener to stay with Blu-ray.
Answer: "That's not what I said. I said no comment". Ouch!

I picked up on that also they're going mad about this one on some other sites.

On the whole I thought it was a little downbeat and TBH lacking in confidence for a keynote multi speaker address.

They have had good news on the player front (some superb machines).

Edit: But none it seems profile 1.1
