Re: AV Forums stand at Bristol this year

The AVPodcast will also be coming live from the show this year. We are still working on the logistics of how to do this, but we will have at least one episode per day from the event. We plan to have interviews with all the big manufacturers and details of what they are showing, we will also get comment from forum members and hopefully maybe even have a roundtable or two with all of the above to discuss the highlights of what we see.
If you guys have any suggestions on content or just want to take part let me know!

Hopefully we can produce something which will give a flavour of the show and exhibits so those not able to attend can get an idea of what was seen and heard.

If we can, we will also have a photo gallery post in the podcast forum so you can see the stuff we are talking about as you listen in. Obviously the podcast will be MP3 file only as we wont be able to do the interactive stuff while at the event.

Hope to meet lots of forum members!

Only if you've 'borrowed' the Fujitsu girls.

Will make the trip across on the Sunday. Hoping for inspiration
after the disappointment of the What Hi-Fi show in London a few
months ago.

On Saturday's Great Western Ambulance open their Carpark (on the corner of castle st/queen st) to the public it costs £2 for all day and is less than a 2 min walk from the show. If your early you should have no problem getting a space.

Otherwise I would recommend using one of the park and ride's as currently Bristol City Centre has one of the largest construction projects in Europe being carried out and traffic can be a problem.

Re: AV Forums stand at Bristol this year

I'm planning to go on the Sunday. My theory is the roads will be quieter, but definitely going to make use of the park n' ride. Looking forward to it as it's my first time so be gentle with me please.

I am thinking about going this year, I haven't been to one before. Is there anything I need to know, any tips for parking etc?
Any discounts?

There appears to be a park & ride option listed further up the thread which sounds like a good bet.

When I went last year there was a large immobile queue for the Hotel's parking (it was full so had to wait for each car to come out) so I would dismiss that as being a good option and I think it was fairly expensive parking too.

There will be some discounts direct from manufacturers selling direct, though will probably find these resulting prices are what you could get mail order etc.

Remember seeing some real bargain AV racks near the entrance, I was very tempted.

Dan.

I plan to use the Park N' Ride and as early as possible Sunday morning. Does anyone know from what time it starts running please? Early start and early finish, should help as it's about a 90min drive for me. (not too bad I guess)

Any affordable bargains at this show usually or do I need deep poskets for the goodies on sale? i.e. cheaper than normal or more?

From where I live it's a lot cheaper and less hassle than going by road, but not the case for everyone .

In any case it's essential that new product developments are discussed in a nearby hostelry afterwards, which precludes driving

A small price to pay though

I'll be there on the Sunday. Not too familiar with central Bristol pubs but the Wetherspoons at the back of Temple Meads will do for me

Re: AV Forums stand at Bristol this year

The park and ride runs daily from 9 until 6 (buses go every 15 mins). It's a lot cheaper than city centre parking too.

Don't forget there are lots of discounts at the sales rooms... being the 20th anniversary the organisers are saying there will be "Special 20th anniversary discounts and offers."

Is there generally a day that is a little less crowded than any others ?

Mind you, my only option is Sunday at the mo.

I'm happy thinking that

Is it like the Scuba Dive show in that the last day you may pick up some real good bargins.......
I guess its more of a LooK what we've got to sell you show, which is cool.

I can't find one shop that holds/deals in all the bits and bobs I want to listen to, so show seems a good idea

I'll be going by train, £14 return (2 singles) from M25 area, not bad really and saves wear and tear on the car plus the juice would cost more than that !
