R.I.P. Live/Best of Stuff/What Hi-Fi show

London has now lost another technology show.

The Best of Stuff/What Hi-Fi Show will no longer be taking place at at Excel, or in London for that matter.

Instead, it is no longer a dedicated show but will simply become a section at the PistonHeads/Autosport car shows which will take place in Birmingham in January.

Welcome to STUFF | Stuff

Best of Stuff/What Hi-Fi show started out as 'Live: The Consumer Electronics Show' way back in 1993. It has ran every year since then (except 1999) at Olympia, then Earls Court, then the Birmingham NEC, then Hammersmith and finally at Excel in London's Docklands. I've been to every single show and used to look forward to it (I even worked at the show one year). The past three shows did slowly degrade in quality I feel.

Tickets to the above mentioned car shows are £29 each and not having a car to modify plus only a limited interest in motorsports means I'm not likely to attend.

This news adds to the loss of the annual Hi-Fi show at Heathrow each September.

Hopefully, The Gadget Show Live will return to Birmingham next year (or move to London).

Re: R.I.P. Live/Best of Stuff/What Hi-Fi show

It's simply because the last couple What Hi-Fi shows were rubbish, and universally panned for being so. Last year's had hardly any of the big manufacturers in attendance (except Sony of course, but that goes without saying).

People, and the industry, don't have much confidence in What Hi-Fi anymore.
