I've already tried 2 models, (one Sony, one Panasonic) - both don't allow this!!...

hi there - thankfully managed to work out that the problem was with the 10m cable that I laid under the floor - guess it must have got damaged! - so no costly repairs thank goodness...

for info - the zone 2 facility on tha arcam amp is actually a phono out feed to an additional amp in another room..
