Pace Problem

I inherited a Pace box a while back - the small semi-circular one.

Since recently moving to an area which has a decent signal I have finally managed to get it set up.

Initially I noticed some random picture flashes, few and far between. Watching a film on BBC1 this evening this got quite bad and it seems to be related to the TV volume. When the film soundtrack was quite loud (explosions, music etc) there was a crackling sound and the picture would start to flash. I then muted the sound on the TV so that it was just coming through my stereo speakers and the problem stopped!?

Can anyone advise why this is happening?

I have the box connected to a Loewe Aconda using the RGB signal. What worries me is that on this model the power cable and aerial both input to the head of the scart lead - surely this can't be a good thing in terms of interference (??).

I would feel happier buying a new box that I can take a decent scart lead from, or perhaps getting the Aconda upgrade. However, if there is an explanation that will save me some cash then I'd be grateful! If a new box is recommended then recommendations would also be helpful.

Cheers!

Having revisited this problem tonight it appears that it is not a problem with the Pace box at all, but the TV!

I tried an S-video signal from the DVD player and the TV continued to pop and crackle, even when tapping the top of the set. Looks like a job for a service engineer... great!
