TV Ariel - Ghosting

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right section as it is an anlogue TV problem but I figure peeps here might be able to help.

My parents TV has recently started 'ghosting' pictures, switching to b&w and clicking in audio. This is most prominent on ITV although I think it happens slightly on BBC1. Both televisions are experiencing the same problems. They are both connected to an in-roof ariel with a mains powered signal booster. I have tried fine tuning one with no improvment. The only thing they think that has changed recently is their next door neighbour getting a bigger outdoor ariel installed. (could just be coincedence)

So the questions :

Could a neightbours ariel have a detremental effect on the picture ?

Have the conditions for trying digital tv improved....when I lent them a digibox ages ago ondigital said it should work but it wouldn't, is there any form of money back guarantee nowadays ?

A local specialist is the most reliable fix! Having an external antennae will help. Cheap signal boosters often introduce ghosting. depends how much they want to spend!!!! Dixons have a 14 day money back deal "i think" so try digital, i have picked up a decent freeveiw signal in place the postcode checker says it wont work but that was on a newish outdoor ariel

The neighbours aerial would only make a difference if it was very close to yours.Its more likely that they have had the same problems so upgraded,you might have to do the same.Its better to have a higher gain aerial than use an amp at all ,if you have to use an amp put as close to the aerial as you can.
