Is it possible to pick up any Irish channels in the UK via the Astra/EuroBird birds (28.2E) ?

Yes but only with a Sky subscription taken out at an Irish address.

Re: Irish Channels ?

am pretty sure that it only works on a sky subscription that's been taken out in ireland...

Have tried a standard sky card in a different receiver, and it's managed to decode all the usual sky channels, just not the irish varients of them ...

Lovelldr is 100% right.

In NI you get the RTE's and TG4 but not TV3 as we in Eire get BBC1 and 2 but not BBC3 and BBC4 (or BBC HD) or ITV (UTV). It's fairly complicated as everything is based on who paid what for where on the EPG.

You'll find RTE1, RTE2, TV3 and TG4 on the first 4 Irish EPG slots (101-104) but not on the UK/NI EPG, where they are further down the list...

But the BBC and ITV channels aren`t encrypted are they?, so you can still get them, just not on the epg, or does the sky box stop you tuning to them?

Re: Irish Channels ?

The Irish channels are not FTA, so you will need a subscription to receive them (using an Irishh address or NI address for RTE or TG4).

BBC3/4 and ITV etc can be viewed in Ireland, but only if you manually tune your box into them as extra channels ..
