Need advice on receiver Silvercrest SL65

I am a complete newbie regarding satelite TV. I saw an offer at my el cheapo store for this complete package:
http://www.mysilvercrest.de/en/artikel.php?a=52

The price for all this is 80€ (~100$).

I need to know if I will be able to get the free to air programes with this equipment?

Is this equipment considered junk or is it a useful basic reciever and antenna?

I just want to get the FTA programmes, so I dont need card ports, etc.

Please advise me. Thanks

Re: Need advice on reciever Silvercrest SL65

The SL65 is a FreeToAir receiver and as such will receive all unencrypted channels from whichever satellite your dish is pointing at.
At Astra2, for example, you'll get all the BBC and ITV channels but not C4 or FIVE.

More help/info on the SL65 here
http://www.comag.smokiebum.com/board/index.php

A list of European FTA channels is here

http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Europe.html

Not all channels from all satellites may be available to you depending on dish size

I have my exact geographical coordinates. How do I find out which satellites can I get with 57 cm dish?

Re: Need advice on reciever Silvercrest SL65

There's a list here which although it's from 2003 may be useful

http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellit...ve/t-4386.html

Certainly most of Hotbird should be available in Southern England with a 57cm dish but expect loss of signal in rain/poor weather

Astra and Eurobird 28E, Astra 19E (and possibly Hispasat 30W) will be fine with a 57cm dish

EDIT
I was typing the above as the OP was posting !!
So, have a look at this site which includes Slovenia

Sorry fernandez.

I don't mean to be a pain, but C4 is available on Astra2. It's got a different tag though - look for a channel labelled "8350".

I haven't found FIVE though

I Hope this is of use to you.

Well ...

Like I said - "I don't mean to be a pain" ...
I just thought that you or other users in hear might not be aware that C4 was freeview now.

I didn't mean to come across as a know-it-all (),
I just thought that it would be better to share that little piece of good news.

I do hope there's no hard feelings.

P.S. Sorry about the excessive use of Smilies, but I really like them.

Re: Need advice on reciever Silvercrest SL65

the Silvercrest range of products seem to represent good value for money to me. They also go under the name of SkyMaster I think.

They are made by Comag who also sell under their own brand and produce own brands for several chain stores.
