How to pickup Hungarian TV? - Help please!

Hi,

Does anyone know if this is possible from south London? If so, any suggestions on equipment, price, installer etc. Complete noob so any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The main provider is UPC on Astra 19E for which a 60cm dish is adequate.
http://www.flysat.com/upcdirect.php

The package is encrypted and apart from needing an official subscription, a receiver with a CAM capable of accepting the card is required

There are some free channels on Hotbird 13E and in most parts of the country a 60 - 70cm dish should be OK
Forget about the free channels (and the encrypted packages) on Amos 4W as a 3M dish is needed

Thanks for that mate, you have given me a good place to start looking. Finally, do you have any idea how much the necessary kit would cost? Just don't want to pay over the odds.

Thanks again.

Firstly the shock if you want the pay channels
A quick google for a UPC card from a dealer in the UK found this

"Viewing Card
UPC Direct Family + Sport + HBO Package. Hungarian Pay-TV on Astra 19° in the Cryptoworks encryption method valid for 2 Years.
Price: £ 962.00"

Hopefully you know someone in Hungary who *may* be able to obtain an official subscription

A suitable receiver can be bought for around £100 (Technomate with Common Interface), a Cryptoworks CAM £40 and a 60cm dish with LNB around £50ish.
I have no idea what satellite installers charge but if you are unable to DIY I'm sure others will advise

If you patch your Technomate receiver with a darkman patch you will save GBP 40.00

Some Technomates with an embedded Mulicrypt card reader may well accept the official UPC Cryptoworks card without doing anything- however even if the receiver doesn't £40 is nothing compared to the £962 subscription cost.
Just for comparison a full Sky subscription costs £1080 over 2 years
