Satellite signals in Norway

We are thinking of buying a house in North Norway and I would like to understand which English language satellite channels are likely to be available (...hence how important a clear southern horizon is for house location in this mountainous area) - in particular is it possible that UK Freesat will be available?

I understand that Freesat will go out from Astra at 28.2° East and Eurobird at 28.5° East. Astra 2D seems very local to the UK but we may get it with a very large dish?

However the Eurobird 1 footprint here looks very possible. Does anyone know if Freesat is likely to go out on this footprint?

Also I am assuming that TV technologies in Norway and UK are identical - True?

Re: Satellite signals in Norway

Only one reception report here I'm afraid
http://www.astra2d.com/norway.htm
and that was with a Dreambox which don't have the most sensitive of tuners AFAIK

From another site

"Sweden, Norway & Denmark

Sky TV reception is possible in Scandinavia but for BBC channels a satellite dish size of 1.2m - 1.8m is recommended in Oslo, Norway and 1.5m in Stockholm, Sweden. Northern Sweden and Norway will need a large dish size of 2.4m. For Denmark, the recommended satellite dish size for Sky TV reception is ~ 1.3m."

Also check here for Norway

Re: Satellite signals in Norway

Satellite/tv technology is the same. You`re right that you`d need a very big dish to get Astra2d, not seen what satellite or beam Freesat`s going on yet.
You will find that Canal Scandinavia shows a lot of English language stuff though, they tend to leave the original soundtrack alone and add subtitles rather than dubbing, and the film channels all have an english soundtrack.
