AB IPBox 9000 HD

This looks like it could be a excellent receiver, finally a Linux based HD box.

http://www.smartcard24.com/product_i...93/language/en

Looks very nice also, £490 is still a little on the expensive side though.
Anyone going to buy one or has brought one?

Re: AB IPBox 9000 HD

Have you looked at the Kathrein HD box? linux based (although file system`s a bit different to usual Dreambox etc) and coming along nicely. Cheaper and can do everything you would want from a linux box. not got one myself yet but some mates have and all pretty much up and running. Getting seriously tempted

Yes, although you can use a phoenix reader or stick a cam in and use that. Think I`m gonna hold fire on the HD box for now and see what some of the other boxes due out look like before taking the plunge.

Ok, I know you guy's have sworn by the DM800 in the past and now we seem to have two other contenders, the IPBox and the Kathrein.

If you were purchasing today which one would you choose?

Re: AB IPBox 9000 HD

DM800 (or 8000 if I was feeling rich!) for me also. The Kathrein never really fulfilled it`s potential IMO, you can now get enigma/cccam running on it but it`s very much a hobbyist unit. The AZBox etc all have there merits, but I think are all at least partly closed source, so for compatablitity and flexibility it has to be the dreambox.
