European Satellite

I'm a little out of touch with the world of Satellite now. Many years ago I had a dual LNB 80cm dish receiving sky and hotbird analogue TV. There were lots of channels of interest to English speakers back then. There was MTV Europe, VH1 Germany, BBC World, and with a D2MAC decoder and a card you could get Dutch channels such as TV1000, Filmnet etc which used to rival the films sky broadcast.

My question is, is it still possible to get these channels, particularly the Dutch film channels as an alternative to sky movies?

Thanks
Mike

Re: European Satellite

That brings back memories.
I built the Elektor magazine Filmnet decoder - and then modified it which greatly improved it.
Designed my own for Red Hot Dutch as well.

Those channels either don't exist or were swallowed up Canal Plus and others.
You can certainly get digital receivers which can get other channels though - but it's beyond the remit of these forums to discuss that in any detail.
