Motorised Sat systems

I know you all hear this all the time, but here goes. I would like to setup a sat system, to see whats out there.

To be honest I was expecting to pay £500+ but after surfing I came across www.brymar.co.uk which appear to have complete systems for £250, with this sort of money what would i get?, or should I forget about this sort of price for a complete system and look else where.

Any advice, would be greater received

Thanks
Steve

Re: Motorised Sat systems

Brymar are ok and so are the receivers these systems are based on.
Depending on what you wish to receive you may want to select the larger dish option(s) as it doesn't cost much extra.

Thanks Chris

The TM6900 (at £440, the 100cm dish) looks promising, as a lot of users on this forum appear to have this receiver, I think I do some further research.

Tanks again

Euler
Where are you based?
Allways go for the 1mtr dish as to change at a later date will be expensive, the TM6900 or TM6800 motorised will impress no end.

Re: Motorised Sat systems

Thanks for the replies, I live in the North East.

Looks like its the 6900 (at £299 from brymar), with a 1 metre dish so £440. I have always had cable, recently upgraded TV and sound system, and simply would like to spend more money, I always like the idea of a satellite system, simply for the amount of channels (could be 10,000 channels and nothing on). I have never really been a big TV watcher, its dvd's for me, but I'am a big flicker.

Cheers

P.S. Does any one know, when you change the direction of the dish from your sofa, does it take seconds or minutes??

Re: Motorised Sat systems

That works out at £140 for 1m dish? Is that an installed price?

If you go for a motorised dish rather than a multi LNB install, there is a lag when you change channels one from satellite to another. The length of the lag depends on how far apart the satellites are: going from 13E to 19.2E will take a few seconds, going from 28.2E to 30W will take about 30-50 seconds (at a rough guess, depending on the motor)
