C Band scan problems on SS 1 CI and SS HD CI

Hi all,

Does anybody know if these cards support C Band?

I have tried both and the HD software refuses to accept a 5150mhz lnb setting - with error stating its not between 10750 - 12750. So the card shows no signal for c band when a good signal is found via spectrum analyser and sent to the card.

The SS1 CI will accept a 5150mhz lnb setting and will show a quality level on its meter, but searching will not lock or find any transponders or channels. When viewing the search/scan window, the software is seen to hover on the transponder settings but cannot pull any details off them or lock - then it moves to the next transponder setting and does the same, finishing off with a blank screen.

I have searched google well and could only find c band similar problems with PCI card overcome here:
http://www.videowall.tv/nexus-review.htm

It seems to me that the SS HD with its Tv Centre S/W definitely doesn't support C Band.

The SS1 CI appears to have C Band potential, due to allowing the 5150 lnb setting, but why can it not find a channel on a strong signal?

If this problem is known, are there any patches to allow these cards to access C Band? ie like the hauppauge Nexus on the link. Also, alternatively, are there other drivers or PVR programs that have better C Band ability for these cards??

I am at a loss here, google searches seem to turn up nothing relevant to Technisat cards. I was previously of the view that all DVB-S sat cards supported C Band - this is clearly not the case.

All help welcome - I will change cards and do whatever to get my 2.3metre paraclypse dish afloat on C Band - here in New Zealand. channel I am after is 3599 v 30000 on Telstar 18 - I Sky Net 138East, 32.5 elevation 289.4 deg from magnetic north - for Auckland NZ.

Does anyone know of a great card for c band scanning and reception?? I'm also needing a CI slot for the Max4xxx channel decryption??? Perhaps the HD Ci module will work on another more C Band supporting PCI card??

cheers :-)

Re: C Band scan problems on SS 1 CI and SS HD CI

I hope that you get some replies but as this is basically a UK based forum the likelihood of many members being familiar with C-band reception is poor.
There may be more help on local forums or even satelliteguys in the US
http://************/2mwql4
or for the Asia-Pacific area

Re: C Band scan problems on SS 1 CI and SS HD CI

Hi,

Thanks a lot, I've posted the enquiry on US site. I didn't know C Band was not used in UK.

Is C Band used much in Europe? Is that why Technisat cards may not support c band?

There may be some US advice forthcoming, as they seem to be throwing out their C Band gear there - from what I can see on Ebay for C Band STB's.

I should have good access to Technisat, but I have never received real responce from them on technical issues - they just don't seem to reply.

Anyway I hope someone will enlighten me on C Band PCI DVB-S use - I am certainly doing something seriously wrong - or else using the wrong PCI cards.

cheers :-)

Re: C Band scan problems on SS 1 CI and SS HD CI

That's purely a software issue. There's 3rd party software around for most PCI tuner cards so that's what I'd investigate.

Re: C Band scan problems on SS 1 CI and SS HD CI

Hi All

Many thanks for the two post answers. I have an update - from the powers that be... ie from Technisat I have this:
"Dear Mr........
Many thanks for your request and your interest in our products.

Unfortunately there is no experience with the SS HD card in C-Band. The card was published for Europe's consumer market, where C-Band doesn't make sense.

Nevertheless the card should function with the latest software in C-Band.

We wonder how you can use the tv-center-sw 1.0.7.2 or 1.0.7.6 for the skystar1
CI. This software was designed for our skystar HD-cards.

You can find latest drivers and software for skystar 1 CI under the following
link:
http://www.technisat.com/index0871.html?nav=Software_Drivers,en,39&download =detail&produktID=1491

Please, feel free to test this one.

Best regards

The link is to the SS 1 software I was already using (the CD that came with the card when new) v2.4.2.1

I finally got the SS HD to scan and play C Band, the LNB setting of 5150 is accepted with several warnings on the latest s/w version and the card scans and plays fine. CPU usage is not high - around 35% on 1800(real)mhz athlon - ie AMD2200+.

As to alternative software - the Card runs fine in MyTheatre, and with some configuring, in RitzDVB.

The SS1 CI scans fine with 2.4.2.1 but uses 100% CPU trying to play - which it doesn't, the mpeg picture is visible but only frozen and still - like a jpeg, The SS1 cannot work with MyTheatre as not supported, and works well with AltDVB. However AltDVB needs the LNB set as KULinear (not 5150)and the frequencies to be scanned also need changing as can be found on the net via google - ie to be set via ku frequencies - that is 14900mhz minus the C Band frequency required (3599 in this case) = 11311 needs to be set - per this link advice:

http://www.satelliteguys.us/free-air...ock-cband.html

This solution works fine.

I have tried several other PVR progz - but AltDVB and MyTheatre really rock for me. Great software - not simple, but generally intuitive and no manuals need to be read to use them.

cheers to all. :-)

Re: C Band scan problems on SS 1 CI and SS HD CI

Dear Brother

I am also very new to the PCI DVB card and i finally found one i.e. Twinhan 1025-P, for me here in Pakistan.

I am also facing the same problem with C-Band LNB, I have tracked a satellite Asiasat3S and on KU Band LNB i have scanned some channels and it works fine with them but when i put on my C-Band LNB and scanned some TP's the original or bundelled software with this card i.e. in the CD does scan the TP's and give me the channels from them but whenever i tried them to play its not working(means that channels that were scanned by the same card by the same software doesn't playing).

Kindly tell me what kind of driver do you use? the original one or the new one downloaded from their website. One other thing is that i have also downloaded the new Driver from their website for my card and tried that too but it also didnt worked for me on C-Band LNB.

Dear brother there is a driver called BDA driver, did you tried that and is that worked for u on C-Band LNB too, I am asking about this driver cause i didn't checked this BDA driver on my card yet.

Please if you can help me on this this will be more than Help.

Thanks in advance dear and kindly reply me on my hotmail I.D. written as under.

Hope you like getting lots of spam publishing your e-mail address on a forum
A word of caution
If you include your email address in an on-line posting - say on a discussion board, you're almost literally asking for spam.
