Can`t Get Technomate 6900 To Record .

Hello,
I got a Tm6900 last week and finally got round to plugging an external hard drive in it. I read on this forum what to do and followed it by the letter:
1-connect via USB to your pc first
2-go to my computer icon and click on right hand mouse
3-select manage
4-go to disk manager
5-see info of the hard disc on the screen (make sure you select the correct drive!)
6-right-hand click again
7-delete partition(delete volume on vista, tried xp and vista)
8-make new partition { it has to be primary }
9-Do not format
10-make the partition active
11-connect to your tm-6800 TM-6900 go to management and format it.

My Tm6900 recognizes the hard drive, formats it and shows a record bar when I hit record but when I press stop to exit recording and look at the files in file list they only play for 1 sec then stop and the screen displays "playback ended" even though the details show the correct length of the recording. it is a Maxtor 300gb 3.5" ide hard drive. My pc picks up the caddy and hard drive perfectly after format on tm6900 showing drive name hoppy and files on there as mpeg. I have the latest firmware release from official Technomate site and latest Darkman patch release installed. This occurs with encrypted channels and also FTA including terrestrial digital channels. Please excuse me if I am doing something really silly here as I have only had the unit for 6 days after upgrading my humax 5400 which has found its way into the bedroom. Any advice very much appreciated,

tia,

Sorted I bought a 500gb Seagate from Maplins and it went straight in (must be compatibility issues with old HD)after following instructions in first post.

Like you I have a Technomate 6900 and have a Seagate Freeagent 500G from Amazon.
The problem I have is the 6900 will not "see" the Seagate from power up and in fact on most occasions says there is no USB connected when there is.
The strange thing is when I connect the Seagate to the 6900 the yellow strip light comes on so there is a USB connection. But the small "usb" logo on the 6900 display does not light up.
Have you had the same problems?
I have the latest "Subtitle software so am up to date.
I am 'phoning Technomate support on Monday
Best regards
Barry

Re: Can`t Get Technomate 6900 To Record .

After few more goes it seems to me that the Seagate HD is not spinning up to speed fast before the 6900 program times out.
Still investigating
