Receiving BBC HD from sat

Hi,
I'm considering getting a reciever to pick up the BBC HD signal from Astra 2 28.2/5 sat. Would my old sky dish on the roof be suitable for this? Would I need to get it re-tuned to the Astra sat?
Cheers,
Steve

Re: Receiving BBC HD from sat

Depends on what you mean by "old Sky dish".
If it has a universal LNB and is pointed at Astra 2 at 28şE already, it will be ready to go.
If it's an old $ky analogue dish (pointed at the Astra sats at 19.2 şE) it will need turning East about 9 degrees and pointing down a further couple of degrees. If it has an old "enhanced LNB" (which has different frequency coverage) you will need to replace the LNB with a modern universal one that will physically fit the same LNB clamp - should only cost about £20.
You will of course need a high defintion STB (Pace DSX810 or 815 or Humax HDCI2000).

Ok, thanks for that - tbh I don't know much of the history of the dish (came with the house) but it was fitted in 2001 and used up to last year, if that's any use working out where it might be pointing?

I'm looking at the Pace DS810XE box at the moment, all depends if I can convince the girlfriend of the added value it will bring to our lives
