Question Which HD STBs are there?

Hello. Does anyone have a list (or can name a few) of HD STBs?
Is there any HD STB that puts HD feeds through analog component (1080i)?
Thank you. Best regards

Pace 810i and Humax HDCI-2000.

I'm pretty sure both do 1080i via component.

Thank you. So, only DVD players won't upscale on component? I thought it'd be the same with STBs... Can I watch a HD channel going through component to my TV on 1080i then?

Second question first; if your TV's component inputs support 1080i then I think both these boxes will output 1080i over component - the Sky HD box certainly does.

Standard definition DVD players won't usually upscale over any output, there's no point - if you have a 1080 line screen, that will upscale the 576 lines from the DVD player to the 1080 lines of the screen.

High Definition DVD players should output HD signals from HD discs; they may upscale the picture from SD discs but again there's not much point.

Quite a lot of sd dvd players upscale these days and a few via component,i would have to agree though in theory there seems no point.

Re: Which HD STBs are there?

You can consider a Homecast HS 5101 CI for less than the cost of a Humax. Just got mine from Germany in less time than ordering from a UK Company! BBC HD worked great out of the box using my current $ky dish. Definitely has Component 1080i.

Thumbs up Re: Which HD STBs are there?

Thank you all.
I thought HD channels would have HDCP and require a digital connection (DVI / HDMI) from the STB to the TV (as upscaling DVDs)... Guess not.
Anymore HD STBs?
