Re: just cancelled SKY _ Freeview question _help please

Freeview requires a terrestrial aerial not a dish and there are quite a few twin tuner DVR's on the market, I use a Humax 9200 and it's been a reliable and decent machine.

As for HD there is no HD via the aerial and the only HD on satellite is from SKY and the BBC, SKY is subcription and requires a SKY+ HD and the BBC can be viewed via the SKY+HD or a "normal" HD set top box but DVR versions are few and far between.

You are going to have to tone down your requirments if you don't want to pay a subscription or buy SKY hardware for High Def content.

Re: just cancelled SKY _ Freeview question _help please

I know you have said you just cancelled sky+, but you could still have used sky+ with a Freesat card, but it would still have cost you £10 for a sky+ sub, but you would not have needed to subscribe to any other package, but you would get more channels and the benfits of sky+

The freesat card costs £20, but I am not sure how a PVR is with sky freesat.

You could also look at BT Vision. It has built in Freeview HDMI connection for possible future HD On Demand and a 160GB HDD to record with twin tuner. Downside is you need BT Broadband for it to work.

ive just cancelled my sky sub a few weeks ago, your sky card automatically resorts back to a freesat card and you get all free sat channels with that card, there's no need to do anything or pay anything, and its supprising what you get on freesat like men and motors/sky3/itv1 2 3 /bbc 1 2 3 4 / chanel 5 and us5 / you even get about 4 movie channels true movies ect.
