Sky+ Dish with Topfield TF6000PVR?

My flat already has a a dish for Sky+ and all the "plumbing". I don't want to subscribe to Sky so am wondering if I can use the dish with any other satellite receiver to get the FTA channels (excuse my ignorance if this is obvious)?

If so, I'm presuming that the Topfield TF6000PVR would be an option?

Yeah shouldn't be a problem, not a huge selection of FTA on satellite at 28.2/28.5 which serve the UK with it's main Dsat offerings.
Very limited EPG (can not use SKY's) with the toppy and as is can not view the FTV channels (CH4, Five, Five US/Life and SKy3).

Why not just get a s/h Sky box off ebay? This will give you all the free to air programmes available plus the use of the Sky epg. For a one off fee of £20 you can also get a sky card ( no subscription ) to view CH4, 5, 5US, 5 Life and Sky Three. There are loads of free to air ch including Films, pop video, special interest prog and the dreaded Quiz programmes.

Re: Sky+ Dish with Topfield TF6000PVR?

I've got a TF6000PVR. You just bung in a Dragon cam and your "FreesatfromSky" card and Bob's your uncle. Record away.

The only downside is that you'll get no proper EPG because it's a Sky proprietary EPG and "normal" FTA receivers can't recieve it. You will get now and next on the FTA channels.

You'll also have to have a Digibox on hand to insert your card into form time to time to keep it alive.
