Signal Strength

I have Sky+ and don't have any picture problems as such but the signal strength on both my feeds seems very low to me. Both around 60% on the little bar things. I'm not sure whether or not I am just used to a worse picture now or whether the picture is ok but running from a low strength signal. I am getting HD next month and am worried that the signal strength might effect the picture on HD as I presume that more needs to be transmitted to the box from the sattelite? Does anyone know why signal strength varies so much? The dish is 3 stories up with nothing is its way.

Is there anyway of improving the strength?

The dish may be slightly off alignment, or you could have a faulty LNB. The installer should check the dish when your SkyHD is installed.

Sorry forgot to mention that the dish is communal, has a quad lnb and I know for a fact that I am the only person connected to it. I guess I need to get the communal supplier to take a look and that sky will probably just end of plugging the cables into the new box.

The signal strengths you see on a communal system may not be the same as those you'd see on a domestic system. Signal quality is much more important than strength, because signal quality is based on the number of signal errors corrected by the box.

Around 40% on my Panasonic TU-DSB40 (N. Yorks). Works fine.
