Using a D box2 and a pc

Let me start by first saying that i dont own a D box2 or have cable tv (those of you who know what a d box2 is will know why im pointing this out) but someone i know recently aquired one. Apart from its debug feature which i dont wish to discuss i found some of its other features interesting, im not aware if other cable boxes have optical sound out for example. But the feature that has had me thinking is its ability to connect to a pcvia enet and stream recordings to and from a pc. What i am interested to know is if anyone thinks (and i am talking in theory) it would work for a device such as this to be connected to a pc to stream a constant live recording live a sky+ box and if so the pc could then be used the scale the picture to the resolution of an hd display then output from the pc via hdmi to provide an all digital scaled picture? If so it would surely be an incredible bit of kit.
